Job Description:

Senior Staff Accountant

We are partnering with a growing medical practice in Southern California to find a talented Senior Staff Accountant to join their finance team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who wants real ownership of the close process, meaningful visibility into the business, and room to grow within a well-established organization.

Location: Hybrid — Temecula, CA (remote-first with occasional on-site visits)

The Opportunity

You'll work closely with the Controller to manage day-to-day accounting operations, support the full close cycle, and deliver accurate financial reporting that leadership relies on. This isn't a back-office-only role — you'll collaborate cross-functionally, help improve processes, and have a genuine impact on how the finance function runs.

What You'll Do

  • Own assigned portions of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, variance analysis, and supporting schedules
  • Prepare, analyze, and review financial statements including balance sheets, P&L, cash flow statements, and internal management reports
  • Reconcile subsidiary ledgers (A/R, A/P, payroll, fixed assets) to the general ledger
  • Monitor accounting data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue improvement
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling in collaboration with department leaders
  • Perform intercompany reconciliations across multiple entities and locations
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and audit requirements
  • Support external auditors during annual financial statement and compliance audits
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve controls, and enhance reporting efficiency
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff as needed

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
  • CPA license or eligibility strongly preferred
  • 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience; healthcare industry background a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting
  • Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or Sage Intacct
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookup functions, and financial data analysis
  • Proven ability to work independently and stay organized in a hybrid or remote environment
  • Strong analytical mindset, sharp attention to detail, and clear communication skills
  • High level of integrity and professionalism in handling confidential information
